Our Story

Our Story

How Casa Nabia came to life — shaped by travel, nature, and a desire for a slower, more meaningful way of living.

A slower life by the ocean

We both spent almost a decade living in London, building careers and navigating the fast pace of city life — one in tech, the other in hospitality. Over time, that way of living began to take its toll. Burnout, illness, and the constant rhythm of the rat race led us both to question what we really wanted from life.

When we met, it was that shared feeling that brought us together. We were both longing for something different — more space, more calm, more connection to nature, and a life that felt healthier, slower, and more our own.

What began as a dream gradually became a journey.

We travelled extensively in search of a place that could offer what we felt was missing. From time in Mexico, through Central and South America, to a road trip from London to Lisbon, we found ourselves drawn again and again to places shaped by ocean air, movement, and a more intentional way of living.

It was only when we arrived in Ericeira that everything began to fall into place.

There was something about this coastline — the rhythm of the ocean, the openness of the landscape, the strong sense of community — that felt like home in a way we hadn’t experienced before.

Casa Nabia grew from that feeling.

The meaning behind Casa Nabia

When we first found the house, there was an immediate sense that it held something special. Surrounded by nature, with the ocean close by and a peaceful energy throughout, it felt like the kind of place we had been searching for all along.

As we began shaping it into what it is today, we discovered Nabia — a pre-Roman goddess connected to water, nature, and life itself. Her story felt deeply aligned with both the land and what we wanted to create here.

Casa Nabia became more than just a name. It became a reflection of the space itself: a place rooted in nature, balance, and renewal.

A space shaped by what we love

Everything we’ve created here is inspired by the life we were searching for.

We share a deep love for the outdoors — surfing, hiking, movement, and the simple joy of being close to nature. Music is also a big part of our lives, whether it’s Stevie playing guitar or evenings shaped by shared playlists and good energy. Food, too, plays a central role: bringing people together, slowing things down, and creating moments of connection.

Hosting has always felt like a natural extension of who we are.

With Stevie’s background in hospitality and a lifelong appreciation for creating meaningful experiences, alongside my own roots where food and hosting are deeply woven into culture, Casa Nabia has become a place where we can bring all of this together.

More than anything, we want people to feel at ease here — cared for, comfortable, and free to fully unwind.

Life at Casa Nabia

Today, our days are shaped by the very things we once felt were missing.

Morning light, ocean air, movement, good food, and meaningful connection. A slower rhythm that creates space to breathe, reset, and enjoy the present.

We love being able to share that with our guests — whether through surf, yoga, or simply by creating an environment where people can reconnect with themselves and their surroundings.

“A place where guests arrive to slow down — and leave feeling restored.”

Looking ahead

Casa Nabia is something we continue to shape, season by season.

Our vision is to grow it into a place that brings people together through retreats, workshops, and shared experiences rooted in wellbeing, nature, and community.

A place where guests arrive to slow down — and leave feeling restored.
